All across India, entrepreneurs have established tens of thousands of private schools to provide an alternative to the overburdened public school system.
Despite their best efforts, these school owners face many challenges. A shortage of skilled teachers, high turnover and insufficient staff motivation are chronic problems. Many of their teachers are unable to manage learning outcomes in their classes and cannot complete the syllabus. Unable to meet parents’ expectations, these schools lose their credibility and have difficulty retaining and recruiting new students.
